Samsung has announced plans to bring the Galaxy S5 smartphone and Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit to Canada on April 11th.
Though pricing and carrier specifics have not yet been revealed, the company said that “the device will retail for $229 on select plans” at its Samsung Experiences Stores in Vancouver and Edmonton, hinting more broadly at a similar 2-year pricing plan. The press release also says it will “be offered across multiple carriers,” which we know to be Rogers, Bell, Telus, Fido, Virgin Mobile, Koodo, MTS, Eastlink, SaskTel, Videotron and Wind Mobile.
The company claims that the Galaxy S5 will be available in Charcoal Black and Shimmery White, while the Gear 2 will come in a variety of shades, from the same Charcoal Black to Wild Orange, Gold Brown and Mocha Gray. The Gear Fit will be available in just black.
If you’ll recall, the Galaxy S5 is an evolutionary product, similar in styling to the two previous S devices. It has a 5.1-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage with microSD card, a 16MP rear camera, a 2800mAh removable battery, IP67 dust and water resistance, a fingerprint scanner and a heart rate sensor.

Update: We’ve received word that Rogers will be releasing the Samsung Gear, Gear 2 Neo and the Gear Fit. The prices: Gear 2 Neo, only available with Rogers, for $219.99; Gear Fit for $219.99; and Gear 2 for $329.99.
In addition, Rogers has revealed that they will make the GS5 available on April 11th for 249.99 “on select two-year term agreements.” The carrier also noted that anyone who reserves will receive a $50 credit on a virtual Rogers Prepaid MasterCard in their suretap wallet, plus those enrolled in the Rogers First Rewards loyalty program when they reserve will receive 2,000 bonus points.
Update #2: TELUS informed us that they will make the GALAXY Gear 2 and Gear Fit available on April 11th.
