Tumblr 3.6 for Android and iOS adds new personalization options

Tumblr, now owned by Yahoo, has long been the king of minimalist blogging, with over 180 million pages dedicated to an assortment of topics, interests and fetishes.

Today, the company has updated its iOS and Android apps, along with a web refresh, to allow blog owners to customize their profiles and change colour palettes. This includes avatars, backgrounds, text choices, and more.

While a seemingly minor change that has been available from other services for years, Tumblr users tend to exemplify uniqueness, and this will go a long way to ensuring they don’t leave the service for another more versatile offering. It’s also nice to see Tumblr’s Android app keeping development pace with its iOS counterpart for a change.
