Google Play Store now lets Canadians pay for items with PayPal

Google just announced that it has added the ability for users to pair a PayPal account with their Play Store accounts and pay for apps, games, books, movies and music with the popular payment service.

The company posted on its Android Developers blog explaining that Canada and 11 other countries now accept PayPal, which can be added through Google Wallet.

PayPal_GooglePlay_N5_AnimationGoogle also offers carrier billing for many of Canada’s largest carriers, but PayPal, which many Android users employ regularly, is another great way to facilitate payments without a credit card.

When Samsung released the Galaxy S5 in April, it touted the handset’s ability to pay for select items via PayPal using the built-in fingerprint sensor. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the functionality has extended to the Play Store just yet — it’s limited to Samsung Apps — but let’s hope the three companies get cooperative sooner than later.
