Dropcam 3.0 for Android adds Activity Feed, customizable alerts and setup over WiFi

A nice update just hit for Dropcam’s Android app, bringing the software up to version 3.0. At its core, Dropcam for Android now supports the customizable Activity Feed that was recently added to the company’s web and iOS apps, allowing users to specify alerts based on specific activity. As we reported last week, Dropcam is moving to enhance all of its cameras via continuous software updates, and being able to filter notifications based on specific action is very useful.

Finally, there’s a new way to set up Dropcams that does not involve the evil USB cord. The company has developed a Fast Mobile Setup method that uses WiFi Direct to setup a connection with a user’s router. Unfortunately, it only works with Samsung devices running Android 4.3 or higher, and the Nexus 5, but the company is adding support for more Androids as quickly as it can.

If you have  a Dropcam, you’re going to want to download this update.
