Good cause: Text donations have topped $92,000 for the Moncton Fallen RCMP Members Fund

If you’re in the giving mood and feel like donating a bit of your hard earned cash to the families who were impacted by last week’s tragedy in Moncton, then you might consider texting in a donation. The Mobile Giving Foundation Canada (MGFC) announced today that Canadians have donated over $92,000 via text messages to the Moncton Fallen RCMP Members Fund. All monies raised go directly to support the families of the fallen RCMP officers and not into service fees.

Bernard Lord, President of the CWTA and Chair of MGFC, said, “Canadians have shown once again how eager they are to support each other during a time of crisis in our communities.” This specific text-to-donate program will be in place until the end of July and those interested can type in the keyword MONCTON to 45678 to make a $20 donation.

We reached out to the CWTA for a greater insight into text donations and they noted that over $2.2 million has been raised since 2010. So this $92,000 accounts for 4% of the total donations to-date.
