Update: BlackBerry now accepting applications to BBM for Windows Phone beta

Your time is almost here, Windows Phone 8 users. After months of anticipation, BlackBerry has started to accept applications to the BBM for Windows Phone beta. On the company blog, Jeff Gadway, head of product and brand marketing for BBM, stated that BlackBerry has “gotten an incredible number of requests” for the popular messaging service to come to WP8 devices, and after testing the app will hit the go publish button “in the coming weeks.” CEO John Chen previously confirmed this will be available in the Windows Phone store sometime this month.

Many of the Android and iOS features, such as single or group chats, picture, voice notes and contact sharing, will be present at launch. BlackBerry also teased a future update will include stickers, BBM Voice, BBM Channels and location sharing.

Apply for the beta and help BlackBerry work out the bugs in BBM for Windows Phone in the BlackBerry BetaZone.

Update: Windows Phone users were quick to submit their name in to be included into the beta version of BBM. Those who were lucky enough to score an invite to beta test BBM on Windows Phone before the official release should have already been notified, and tonight seems to be when the long-awaited dream will become reality. On Twitter tonight, BlackBerry’s Jeff Gadway declared that “Beta participants should be able to DL in next couple hrs. Thx 4 ur patience!”
