Two more HTC executives depart the company

HTC’s executive shuffle continues. According to a report in Bloomberg, President of Engineering and Operations Fred Liu and Chief Marketing Officer Ben Ho are both departing the company. Liu was with HTC for the last 16 years, has held several leadership positions and is leaving because he’s retiring. Ho just joined the company in January 2013 and will stay with the company until the end of the year.

HTC has been producing well built smartphones for the past couple years, chief among them the flagship HTC One series, but the company has recorded 11 consecutive quarters of declining revenue. From a marketing perspective, HTC went big and signed celebrity Robert Downey Jr. to a 2-year marketing agreement worth $12 million. With the head of marketing leaving, it’s not clear if RDJ will have a future at the company beyond that agreement.

HTC is rumoured to be working with Google to release a Nexus tablet, currently sporting the codename of Volantis, and expected to come with a 8.9-inch display, a 64-bit Tegra K1-powered SoC, 2GB of RAM, 8MP rear OIS camera, 3MP front-facing camera, with an aluminum body coming in at 7.9mm thick.
