OtterBox partners with Nina Garcia for fashionable Symmetry Series case

When OtterBox announced its new Symmetry Series of cases earlier this year, the company really pushed the whole ‘fashion and function’ thing. OtterBox cases don’t have the best reputation for being very stylish, but the Symmetry Series sought to change that with a moulded plastic and rubber design in a range of fun colours. Now, the company is taking things one step further with a collaboration with Colombian fashion journalist and critic Nina Garcia.

Garcia is probably best known for her role as a judge on Lifetime’s Project Runway. Her OtterBox case was inspired by Brazilian street art and is named ‘Brazilian Pop!’ Compatible with iPhone 5/S and Samsung’s Galaxy S5, it’s not clear if this is the first in a series of collaborations between OtterBox and big names in fashion. CEO Brian Thomas acknowledges that customers are eager to see an increased level of fashion-forward functionality so one hopes the company will continue with these partnerships.

The Brazilian Pop! case was created “exclusively” for Garcia’s Quarterly.co.box (a service that allows you to send goodies to fans and followers once every quarter) but it will also be available via the OtterBox website priced at $49.95. For those wondering, that’s a $5 premium compared to the other patterned Symmetry Series cases from Otterbox. No word on how limited this limited edition case will be so get it while it’s hot, folks.
