Uber finally arrives on Windows Phone after four years

iPhone and Android users have been able to hail cabs from their smartphones for the last four years. Windows Phone users haven’t been so lucky. Up until now, anyone using a device running Microsoft’s mobile OS has been forced to use Uber’s mobile site because there was no dedicated app for Windows Phone, and there never has been (bar one month in 2013, but that app so bad it was removed).

That all changed today. Uber has announced that its application is now available for download in the Windows Phone store and can be used by Uber customers in any of the 150 supported cities around the world.

With availability in 40 countries around the world, it’s amazing that it took so long for an official Windows Phone app, even if Windows Phone does only account for a relatively small number of smartphone users in terms of marketshare. Check it out Uber for Windows Phone over on the Windows Phone Store.
