Leaked images show official shots of Xperia Z3 Compact

With IFA almost upon us, it seems someone at Sony has accidentally pulled the trigger on some press shots of an unannounced device intended for the press conference.

This device is believed to be the Xperia Z3 Compact , which Sony will be officially unveiling tomorrow right after Samsung’s Unpacked event. Rumoured specs for the Z3 Compact point to an 4.6-inch 720p display as well as a Snapdragon 801 processor clocked to 2.5 GHz, a 20.7MP camera, and a 2,600 mAh battery. The biggest difference between the Z3 and the Z3 compact is screen size, so this is a phone purely made to appease those that fear the 5-inch phone, and it will be available in four colours.

The Z3 Compact is expected to be announced tomorrow alongside the Xperia Z3, which is notable only for its similarity to the Z2 (it is basically indistinguishable from its predecessor). There’s also going to be a Z3 Compact Tablet, which is thought to have an 8-inch HD display. Based on the name and the timing of the announcement, we’re going to go ahead and guess that the Z3 Compact Tablet will be based on the same Snapdragon 801, the same 3 GB of RAM, and, dare we say it, the same 20.7MP camera?

Check back tomorrow for the official news on this trio of Xperias from Sony.
