Rebecca Minkoff pairs with Case Mate for wearable jewelry

Wearable tech is still in its infancy, so the entire category can be forgiven for not being very fashion forward. Most of the pieces we’ve seen so far have been pretty one dimensional. They more or less all follow the same colours and themes, and while some of them were definitely designed to be unisex devices, there are lots of manly wearables out there and not a lot of girly designs to match them.

Designer Rebecca Minkoff joins Tory Burch in making the wearable space a little bit more feminine with the launch of a new line of wearable tech as well as clunky mobile charger. The line, to be unveiled at New York Fashion Week, is comprised of two bracelets in gold and black. The gold, chain-link notification bracelet connects with your phone via Bluetooth and offers a visual alerts for messages and calls from chosen contacts. Then there’s the lightning cable bracelet which connects to a USB cable for when you need to charge.

These bracelets are not as smart as some of the watches we’ve seen this week, but are more or less in line with other smart jewelry we’ve seen this year. The more functional notification bracelet is $120, while the lightning cable bracelet is $60. No word on pricing for the charger, but those are pretty easy to come by and usually aren’t too expensive, so we’re not sure Rebecca Minkoff has the upper hand here.
