iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c prices drop after new phone launch

Apple has discounted the unlocked and off-contract versions of its former flagships, the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c, after debuting two new smartphones today in Cupertino, California.

The iPhone 5c will remain on the market, replacing the aging 4s, removing the last vestage of the old 30-pin connector, while the 5s will service customers still looking for a smaller-screen device with good performance.

As for pricing, the iPhone 5c will be sold for $469 for the sole 8GB model, though the colour options will remain available.

The iPhone 5s will be available in its three previous shades in two configurations, a $639 16GB model and $699 32GB version. The iPhone 6, by comparison, starts at $749 for the 16GB model.

The new prices take effect today, while potential buyers of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus will have to wait until September 19th. Carriers have yet to issue pricing for the new models.
