Microsoft gifts 30GB of free storage to photo-uploading OneDrive users

Microsoft has decided to mine iOS 8’s storage woes for good some publicity of its own.

The company announced on Friday that it was doubling the amount of storage available to OneDrive users who enable automatic uploads from 15GB to 30GB. The benefit applies to Android and Windows Phone users in addition to iOS users.

It’s a good offer, but with Dropbox recently lowing its price per GB and Apple turning on iCloud Photo Library in the coming weeks, Microsoft may have to work harder than doubling cloud storage to get people to switch.
