Flickr launches new app optimized for the iPad

Apple last week announced a brand new iPad Air complete with an upgraded camera module. Just in time for that announcement, Yahoo-owned photo hosting service Flickr announced the launch of a dedicated app for the iPad.

The app is not only optimized for the iPad’s larger display but it also features iPad-optimized layouts with a waterfall-like format. The bigger news here is that Flickr seems to embracing the tablet photography trend that started when Apple introduced the camera to the iPad.

During last week’s event, Apple revealed that the iSight camera in the iPad Air 2 packs an 8MP sensor and is capable capturing 1080p video, as well as time lapse and slow-mo clips. The FaceTime camera also got a bit of a boost with burst mode, HDR, and video capture.

Now, Flickr’s iPad app is meeting these new features head-on with the ability to ability to capture photos and videos with live filters on the iPad. Users can also edit their content and share their photos and video over social media from within the application.image001.gif@01CFEC59.DA083850

Flickr for iPad requires iOS 8 and can be downloaded via iTunes.
