Nokia responds to leaks, releases HERE Maps beta for all Android devices

After releasing the HERE Maps beta for Samsung Galaxy devices, Nokia found itself in a situation that is not uncommon to the Android experience: an APK distributed around the internet compatible with, but not optimized for, all Android devices.

Now, Nokia is officially releasing HERE Maps in beta for all Android devices running Jelly Bean and above. It’s a sideload, so the app is not being distributed through the Play Store — at least not in its current beta format. Nokia acknowledges that many of the bugs found in the Samsung-only version have not been fixed, and this release is mainly to step the distribution of unauthorized leaked versions.
