Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet get PS4 Remote Play

Sony this week announced a Sony User Experience upgrade that will bring PS4 Remote Play support to the Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet.

Remote Play allows users to use their tablet or smartphone as a second screen when gaming with the PS4. It also offers you the ability to use your device as a controller for the console itself. Until now, it’s only been available with the Zperia Z3 series. Sony said in its post today that it had planned to wait until the new year bring Remote Play to Z2 users but the date was pulled forward due to demand from excited users.

This update to the Sony User Experience software also brings Hi-Res audio support for PCM and DSD files, enhanced playback on MP3, AAC, and Music Unlimited tracks, improvements to the camera app, longer battery life through STAMINA Mode, the ability to record your screen, proximity unlock for Sony SmartBand devices, and improvements to Sony’s proprietary settings like screen rotation.
