Red BlackBerry Passport crops up on Amazon with Christmas release date

We already know that BlackBerry has a white version of its Passport smartphone. It showed it off at the launch event in September. However, the phone has yet to make it to market in white. According to the latest reports, BlackBerry plans to launch the white model alongside a festive red version this Christmas.

An Amazon listing shows the device will be released on December 25th of this year. Though no photos of the device accompany the listings (for the white or red model), the above seems to be a render from @pootermobile that shows a fire engine red backing with matching keys and black frets and frame. Considering the black and white models both have silver accents, we’re assuming the official red Passport won’t look exactly like the above, but it’s a beautiful interpretation of what might be coming our way this December.

Under the hood everything would, we assume, be the same as the currently available black version of the Passport. That means the same 4.5-inch 1440 x 1440 pixel IPS display, the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC with a quad core CPU clocked to 2.2GHz, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a 13MP camera with OIS, a 2.1MP camera up front, a 3,450mAh battery, and BB OS 10.3.
