Windows Phone users finally get new Foursquare app

It’s been four months since Foursquare launched its revamped application on Android and iOS. Now, Windows Phone users are finally getting a little love.

Foursquare today announced that its redesigned app, which focuses on discovering new places as opposed to checking into your favourite businesses, is launching on Windows Phone this week.

Available for Windows Phone 8.1 devices, version 4.0 lets you share tips on your favourites stores and restaurants, search based on specific preferences (like ‘outdoor seating’ or ‘good for working’), follow people whose tips you want to see above everyone else’s, and view popular spots among your friends (provided you’re willing to connect your social networking profiles).

If you were really only using Foursquare to accrue check-ins and collect badges, you can download Swarm, which was released earlier this year on Windows Phone and is the result of Foursquare’s decision to split its business into two separate products.
