Nvidia SHIELD Tablet gets upgraded to Android 5.0.1

Shield Tablet

Nvidia’s SHIELD Tablet was one of the first Lollipop devices on the market (second only to the Nexus 9). Now, Nvidia has announced the release of the Android 5.0.1 update for its gaming tablet.

Android 5.0.1 dropped on December 2nd and includes some general bug fixes including fixes for issues relating to video playback and password failures. It comes via SHIELD Tablet Software Update 2.1, which also includes system performance enhancements and tweaks to the UI, as well as camera enhancements, and the return of the SHIELD Power Control Menu. There’s also support for OpenGL 4.5 support, and optimizations for memory intensive apps.

Android Lollipop is now up to Android 5.0.2 but that’s only available for the WiFi version of the Nexus 7 2012.
