Canadians spend 53% of their total time online with mobile devices

Canadians spend a great deal of time on mobile devices. Facebook recently let it be known that 20 million Canadians use the social network every month, with 16 million connecting from a smartphone or tablet.

A new set of stats by PHD Canada and IAB Canada reveals the trend of Canadians accessing the internet from their mobile phone or tablet will continue to increase in 2015. The report, which was based on December 2014 info, showed Canadians aged over 18 spent 53% of their time online accessing the internet through a mobile device (smartphone and tablet), followed by 33% coming from a desktop or laptop. The report indicated that Canadians spent 27 hours and 49 minutes per week on the internet.

Canadians visited a lot of social networks in 2014, such as Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter. In addition, Canadians accessed more on-demand services such as Netflix, CraveTV and Shomi, and also live TV for breaking news or the latest hockey game.
