Fitbit Surge pre-orders now live in Canada for $280

Fitbit Surge

The Fitbit Surge is coming to Canada, and unfortunately, seems to be priced higher here than for our friends south of the border. Originally tipped for $249, Canadian retailers are now taking pre-orders for $280 with an “estimated release date” of January 23rd. Apparently there’s also “Limited Quantity Available.”

Dubbed a “super watch”, the Surge is much different in design than the previous Fitbit Force and Fitbit Flex, and features added functionality. The new wearable preforms the expected features for any heart-rate monitor and activity tracker, such as steps counted, floors climbed, calories burned, as well as monitoring sleep patterns and active minutes, but also sports a built-in GPS and is water resistant.

Aiming to take on a crowded smartwatch space (including the Samsung Gear Fit, Basis Peak, Sony SmartBand), Fitbit has also enabled the Surge to go beyond tracking health to display incoming calls and texts, as well as music controls. The Fitbit Surge has a 7-day battery life and compatible with iOS, Android and Windows Phone devices.
