OnePlus announces new name for custom Lollipop ROM

OnePlus one reiterated plans to release its own custom ROM Last December, after its falling out with Cyanogen Inc, OnePlus One reiterated its plans to release its own custom ROM. The company even held a contest inviting members of the OnePlus community to help name its custom UI.

About a month ago, OnePlus released an Alpha ROM with no customizations beyond the stock features of AOSP Lollipop. Though we still have no idea as to when we can expect a more full featured version, the company is throwing us a bone with an official name, OxygenOS, and the promise of more information in a couple of weeks’ time.

“Oxygen is all around us. It’s part of us and everything we do. It creates the water that carves out valleys and moves mountains,” OnePlus said this morning. “By itself, it’s simple and pure—a fundamental building block. But, as a part of something greater, it can do amazing things. Just like us.”

OnePlus has said it will talk more about OxygenOS on February 12th.
