Runkeeper adds Spotify support (but only for iOS users)

Listen up, RunKeeper users (sorry, not sorry)! Your favourite fitness app has just added support for Spotify integration, something it claims has been among the most frequent of requests from users. Starting today, Spotify users with RunKeeper can link the two applications.

Of course, you’ll need to be a Spotify Premium user to benefit from this partnership. And there’s a catch: this functionality is only available users of the iOS version of the RunKeeper app. If you’re on Android, you won’t be setting off on your weekend run with the option to launch Spotify right from your RunKeeper start screen.

Spotify joins a long list of connected apps already available to RunKeeper users, including MyFitnessPal, SleepCycle, Weighty, and BeatRun. Unfortunately, RunKeeper offered no indication as when Android users can expect support for Spotify. The good news is that you can already do both at the same time by running Spotify in the background. A little less convenient, but you’ll still be able to access your playlists get down to your sick beats.
