Timely for Android gets nice Material Redesign and Google Now integration

Things have been quiet from the Swiss team behind Timely, the alarm app Google bought in early 2014.

Timely for Android emerged as one of the most attractive alarm and timer apps on Android, with a beautiful design and fluid animations. While Google had released some small bug fixes since then, this week’s update to version 1.3 contains some pretty fantastic improvements.

Notably, the app is now compatible with Android 5.0’s colour palette, so when the app changes colour, so does the notification bar.

The app also now integrates with Google Now, so asking it to “Set an alarm for 8am” will bring up Timely as an option.

Timely is also a bit smarter, too. It displays an upcoming alarm notification, and can be forced to ask a skill-testing question to make sure you’re really awake. Finally, if you don’t feel like waking up to one of the app’s many alarm options, it’s now possible to choose one from your own library. Maybe Spotify/Rdio integration next?

Timely remains free for all, and is a must-download app for Android users.
