Xposed Framework for Lollipop now available in Alpha

Android lollipop

Popular Android tweaking tool Xposed Framework is now available for Android. In a post over on XDA Developers, user Rovo89 said this was a long time in the making.

Xposed Framework allows Android users to modify their phone’s OS at a system level without installing a custom ROM, using Xposed modules. In October, Rovo89, the XDA Developers user responsible for building Xposed, said that he couldn’t give an estimation as to when Xposed would work with Lollipop. Because of Lollipop runs on ART, and Xposed was originally developed in the Dalvik days, getting Xposed to work on the newest version of Android was going to take a while. In fact, Rovo89 said he wasn’t 100% sure Xposed for Lollipop would work, but he hoped that it would, “even if it might not be as compatible with most ROMs and as easy to install as it is for Android 4.x.”

This Valentine’s weekend, Rovo is back on XDA with an update for Xposed fans. He notes that this is an Alpha version and so may not be consistently stable for everyone.

“Note that this is still an alpha version and for Lollipop on ARMv7+ devices only,” he wrote. “Please install it only if you’re willing to take the risk of boot loops. Just because it’s working fine and stable for me doesn’t mean it will work for everyone the same way.”
