Sony teases Z4 Tablet ahead of Mobile World Congress

Earlier this week, Sony accidentally let slip about its Xperia Z4 Tablet on its Xperia Lounge app. The company quickly pulled the photos and text, but not before screenshots were captured and posted online.

Whether this was done intentionally or was truly an accident, we’ll likely never know, but fast forward a few days and Sony is teasing the device in a more official capacity. The company has shared a photo of what is presumably the Z4 on its Google+ page and promises all will be revealed on March 2nd, which is this coming Monday. The post also bears the tagline, “Slimmer. Lighter. Brighter.”

What’s not clear is if this device is a successor to the relatively new Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact or if Sony is billing this as a follow on to the larger and older Xperia Z2 Tablet. The Xperia Z3 Compact is just a few months old and has an 8-inch display. The Z2 Tablet was released last spring following, you guessed it, an MWC unveiling.

Both the Z3 Tablet Compact and the Xperia Z2 Tablet measure the same 6.4mm thick. However, the Z2 is considerably heavier at 426g compared to the 270g Z3 Compact Tablet.
