Lollipop now rolling out to Sony Xperia Z2 users in select regions

Yesterday, Sony announced that it had started rolling out Lollipop to Xperia Z3 and the Xperia Z3 Compact. That rollout was starting in the Nordics and Baltics, and Sony only promised a further rollout to other Z3 and Z3 Compact users around the world in a few weeks’ time.

The above suggested users of other Xperia Z phones might be waiting quite a while. However, it seems Sony is also pushing out Lollipop to Xperia Z2 users in the Nordic and Baltic regions. Xperia Blog reports that the Android 5.0.2 firmware for the Z2 is carrying the build number 23.1.A.0.690, just like the Z3 and Z3 Compact update that started shipping yesterday.

Lollipop is currently only installed on 3.3% of Android devices. Sony was one of the first to confirm its Lollipop rollout plans, but that was almost more than four months ago. It’s good to see Sony’s rollout is proceeding at a respectable pace now that it’s actually started.
