Lenovo CEO accidentally leaks photo of unannounced Moto 360 styles

If you were worried about how Lenovo’s acquisition of Motorola might effect the latter’s development of devices that existed prior to the merger, this photo should go some way toward easing your concerns.

According to 9to5Google, Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing briefly posted the pictures above and below to Weibo before removing it from his feed. But, of course, not before it was captured for posterity and posted on several other sites. Eagle-eyed readers will notice that the Moto 360 portrayed in the image looks quite different to the version that’s actually available, which has led to speculation about a second generation Moto 360.

To play devil’s advocate, it’s possible the above is just another customization of the Moto 360 we’ve come to know over the last year. Indeed, the presence of all the cases and bands alongside could mean that this is just another option that Moto 360 fans can look forward to at a later date. The most optimistic could say that the fact that Yang deleted the photo suggests that this is more significant than that.

The Moto 360 is one of the most popular Android Wear smartwatches available today. The watch’s round design caught people’s attention last spring but Motorola has worked tirelessly to ensure a respectable number of casing and band options are available for those eager to personalize the watch to their own style. Regardless of whether this is the new watch or not, it’s encouraging to see Motorola remains committed to offering more styles.
