Samsung expected to sell 55 million Galaxy S6 phones in 2015

Samsung Galaxy Line

JK Shin, head of Samsung’s mobile division, has already confirmed that pre-orders for the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge are “really huge,” and earlier this month there were reports that Samsung had received 20 million pre-orders for the two phones combined. However, sales could be more than double that for the year.

According to the Korea Herald, analysts are predicting that sales in excess of 50 million for this year alone. The news outlet cites a report by DRAMeXchange that says Samsung will sell 22.2 million units in Q2 with an additional 16.2 million sales for the third quarter and another 12.5 million for Q4.

No doubt Samsung’s goal of selling more Galaxy S6 units than any other Galaxy S flagship is well within reach..The company’s current best seller is the Galaxy S4, which sold 16 million units in its first quarter. The S5, for comparison’s sake, sold just 12 million units in its first three months of availability.

Even if Samsung does intend to report sales of both phones as one, it sounds as though the S6 alone may come close enough to break the S4’s record. It was reportedly earlier this month that pre-orders for the S6 had already reached 15 million, and that number will grow as more carriers around the world start taking reservation.
