Crossy Road crosses over to Windows Phone and Windows 8.1

Crossy Road

Gaming on Windows Phone took a significant turn for the better this week. On Wednesday, the excellent Threes! arrived on the platform. Now, Windows Phones and Windows 8.1 users can also enjoy the popular Crossy Road.

While it’s not the excellent exercise in game design that Threes! is, Crossy Road is still a fun way to pass some time. Anyone that played Frogger back in the day will be familiar with the game’s premise: the goal is help the player controlled chicken cross the road, one click at a time.

The game uses a very reasonable free-to-play model similar to Dota 2. With the exception of 89 different playable characters, all of the game’s content is open and available to the player for free. 78 of the mascots are unlocked with Crossy Road’s in-game currency, which can either be earned through gameplay or bought with real world money.

Hipster Whale, the studio that created the game, recently released its follow up to Crossy Road, Quest Keeper, on iOS and Android.

Grab Crossy Road on the Windows Phone Store and Windows Store.
