Transit app Moovit hits 4.0 with redesign and smartwatch support

One of the greatest uses of a pocket-sized device that is connected to the Internet and GPS satellites is being able to find your way around. Throw in the potential for early or late busses and trains and you have a problem that’s ripe for a smartphone app to solve.

Today, Moovit released a new major version of their real-time transit information app of the same name. The app has been overhauled and redesigned to be much faster and simpler. Moovit includes transit info for 19 Canadian cities, in addition to 76 in the United States and over 600 cities total in 55 countries.

The app update adds notifications for upcoming stops when you’re on the bus, as well as adding the ability to add favourite trips, routes and locations. The iOS update also includes a brand new extension for the Apple Watch (the Android app update released last month includes support for Android Wear) so you’ll be able to quickly check upcoming transit information on your wrist too. Finally, the app now has limited support for offline directions and timetables that have been viewed recently.

One of the big benefits of this app over others with similar functionality is that users can submit reports for things like delays or information on route conditions that others may find useful. This is a massive redesign and update, so you should go check it out!
