Twitter is letting users work together to block trolls

Twitter Block List

Starting today, Twitter is allowing select users to share block lists with one another. Ideally, this should help certain communities that are the subject of rampant harassment reduce the amount vitriol they see from similar groups of people.

Writing about its existing moderation tools, Twitter says, “While many users find them useful, we also recognize that some users — those who experience high volumes of unwanted interactions on Twitter — need more sophisticated tools.” It adds, “This new, advanced feature makes blocking multiple accounts easy, fast and community driven.”

Managing a list of blocked accounts is done by visiting Twitter’s website and navigating to the blocked accounts setting. Once there, clicking on the advanced options drop down menu lets the user either import or export a list.

According to the company, the feature will be available to everyone in the coming weeks. Additional moderation tools are also in the works and will be released in the near future.
