Instagram adds new curation tools to help users find relevant and compelling content

Instagram has unveiled two new updates to its Android and iOS apps today.

First, a “completely reimagined” Explore tab, which is currently only available in the United States, gives users the ability to follow popular trends across the world “as they emerge in real-time.” Second, there’s a new “collections” feature that will be updated regularly to include “interesting accounts and places, from musicians and extreme athletes to stunning architecture and gorgeous beaches.” Tying together the two new features is a more powerful search tool that will enable users to more easily find people, places and tags.

Instagram’s more 300,000 million users upload some 70 million photos and videos each day. Ostensibly, the company hopes these feature additions will help keep users endlessly engaged.
