Apple Stores now sell third-party accessories with co-designed packaging

Apple’s retail packaging typically comes across understated and minimal. We’ve seen the iPhone, iPad, Watch, and all its accessories come in a box that sports the Apple logo, a picture of the product and basic font. Clean and clutter free.

According to the latest report from 9to5Mac, Apple is targeting third-party accessory makers to follow this design style in its stores. Starting next week, Apple and a select number of manufacturers — Tech21, Sena, Incase, Mophie, Logitech, and Life Proof — will start selling its wares with packaging co-designed by Apple.

The idea behind the initiative is to maintain consistency with the Apple Store experience. To that end, new packaging will feature a white box with “simpler fonts, new photography, higher-quality materials, and more consistent compatibility labeling.” Apple reportedly intends to bring other accessory makers into this new direction, while reducing the number of accessories in-store.

Update: It looks like the packaging has started to arrive in Apple Stores. 9to5Mac has received a number of images of various accessories. Check them out below.
