New Google Maps feature is both useful and slightly creepy

This week, Google released a new version of Maps for Android with a brand new big-box feature, “Your Timeline.”

The gist is simple: Maps knows where you are and where you’ve been, and now conveys it in an easy-to-understand timeline, visible only to you and editable with custom names.

The fact that you can now rename places is a big enough deal; that you can scan back a few days to recall where you were without having to remember to check in to Swarm or Yelp is a bonus. Google promises that none of this data will ever be published, and it’s easy enough to delete single entries or entire days.

Google Maps version 9.12 is rolling out slowly over the next few days, but you can download it through APKMirror if you’re impatient.
