Missing Acer smartphones in Canada? Well, the Liquid Jade Z and Liquid Z410 are en route, coming this month from “leading retailers” like Staples, but with no promises of carrier partners. Acer believes that unlocked phones are going to be a big business in this country as bring-your-own-device incentives continue at the carrier level.
As for specs, the dual-SIM, LTE-enabled Liquid Jade Z is the leader of the two. It comes with a 5-inch 720p display, a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, a 2300 mAh battery, and a “voice-activated” 13MP camera with a 5MP front-facing camera that enables “customers to easily shoot their best selfie.”
The Liquid Z410 is another dual-SIM entry-level Android that features a 4.5-inch 854×480 display, a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, a 2,000 mAh battery, 5MP camera with a 2MP front-facing camera, and weighs in at 145 grams.
Both the Liquid Jade Z and Liquid Z410 run Android 4.4 with no clear update path to Lollipop. Pricing for the Jade Z is $269 CAD and the Liquid Z410 is priced at $149 CAD.
Hugo Hernandez, VP of Acer America Smartphone Business Group, stated, “Our newest smartphones for the Canadian market are thin, light and outfitted with the convenient tools people depend on for navigating and communicating.”
