Product Red Apple Watch Sport Band leaks

If you were hoping there would be some surprises left at today’s Apple event, then sorry to disappoint, this is not the event for you.

With a couple of hours left before the Cupertino-based company begins announcing a flurry of products, a potential new Apple Watch band has been outed thanks to Twitter user Larry Greenberg, the editor in chief of a website called RunAroundTech. As you can see from the tweet below, its a Product Red 42mm band for the Apple Watch Sport. What’s notable about the band is Apple hasn’t offered a red one in the past; only celebrities and athletes were able to obtain one.

From a historical perspective, Apple has long had an affiliation with Product Red, a private company founded by U2 frontman Bono that aims to raise awareness and funds in the fight against HIV and AIDS. The second-generation iPod Nano, released in 2006, was one of the first products to feature the Product Red branding.

The company is expected to announce additional bands in new colours, as well as possible new Apple Watch Sport models.

The event where they’ll all be announced starts today at 1 p.m. EST
