Smart sound home speaker manufacturer Sonos has revealed an innovative new speaker tuning software called Trueplay, as well as the next iteration of its flagship Sonos Play:5 smart speaker line.

According to a press release from the company, Trueplay allows Sonos speaker users to tweak their existing Sonos speakers in order to optimize their location within your home, adjusting for the size of a room, ambient noise, as well as a variety of other factors. Usually speaker calibration is a complex process, but Sonos says its software has the ability to tune speakers with the single press of a button.

“Trueplay is a revolutionary system that gives music lovers confidence that they’re hearing what their favorite artists labored to produce, independent of the room’s acoustics and speaker location,” said Sonos CEO John MacFarlane in a statement to MobileSyrup.

“Finally there’s a simple, reliable process that delivers studio-quality listening experiences in each room of the home.”

Through Sonos’ app, a special tone is emitted from the iPhone or iPad’s speaker. Trueplay then analyzes how this sound reflects off walls, glass, and furniture, and then tunes the speaker to meet that particular room’s environment.

In terms of the Sonos Play:5, the company says that its new flagship smart speaker has the ability to replicate the sound created by high-end studio speakers. It features six synchronized, customer-designed drivers and mid-woofers that reportedly create “deep, powerful lows.”

Similar to previous Sonos speakers, the Sonos Play:5 is compatible with the Sonos Playbar and Sonos Sub.

Sonos Play: 5 is set to retail for $549.
