Android 6.0 Nexus 5X factory images now available

Similar to how Google has handled past Nexus operating system updates, the company today posted Android 6.0 Marshmallow factory operating system images for its recently released flagship smartphone, the Nexus 5X.

There are currently three versions of the smartphone’s stock software available, although it’s unclear what carrier each specific build targets. Android Central is reporting that the first two builds are likely designed specifically for U.S. T-Mobile and Project Fi Nexus 5X devices, and that the last download is for all other Nexus 5X devices.

It’s unlikely most Nexus 5X owners will need to take advantage of these downloads since the smartphone comes pre-installed with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. However, if you’re the type of person who flashes your smartphone with custom firmware, these stock Marshmallow images will likely be very useful, especially if you’re looking to return to stock Android, or run into some sort of difficulty during the flashing process.

The Nexus 5X is currently available for order in Canada.
