CBC brings Peter Mansbridge and Rick Mercer to your smartphone with new emoji app

Emojis are all the rage these days. Twitter recently added a Star Wars collection, SwiftKey updated its app to support additions made to iOS 9.1, Bauer debuted hockey hair and Zamboni emoji, and Tim Hortons even jumped into the fun.

Now, Canada’s national broadcaster, CBC, thought it would be a good idea to spend taxpayers dollars on a new iOS keyboard, the CBC Emoji keyboard. The app offers some of the most notable CBC personalities to your device, including Rick Mercer, Marg Delahunty, David Suzuki, Peter Mansbridge, and a slew of well-known Canadian icons.

In total, there are over 60 current and “vintage” stickers, but missing is Don Cherry.

The apps are installed as actual keyboards, so you’ll have to go through the requisite setup procedures to enable them on either platform.

The CBC Emoji keyboard is free and available for iOS or Android.
