You’ll soon be able to charge your Watch with an official Apple Watch Charging Dock

Images of what looks to be packaging for a new Apple Watch charging accessory have surfaced. First reported by French site iGeneration, then again by grobgebloggt.de, the Magnetic Charging Dock will reportedly soon be available to purchase at Apple retail stores and online.

The circular dock enables Apple Watch owners to easily charge their smartwatch by placing it on a circular magnetic charging puck. The Magnetic Charging Dock will come with a Lightning cable but reportedly doesn’t include a USB power adapter. Reports indicate there are two ways to charge the Apple Watch with this new accessory, either by placing it flat with the watch bands spread across the puck, or on its side with the Digital Crown facing up.

There is no indication of availability. The dock is expected to retail for approximately US$100, or around $129 CAD.

If you’re looking for something a bit cheaper, and perhaps more useful, Nomad’s excellent Apple Watch Pod is a good alternative.

Update – November 18th: Some charging accessories have made it into Apple Stores around the world. Unfortunately, the Canadian release and pricing is unknown. However, the video below gives a good indication of how the Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Dock works.
