Uber Montreal celebrates first year in business, says it sees 300,000 pickup requests a month

Despite regular protests by the taxi industry, Uber continues to grow in Montreal. The popular car-sharing service recently celebrated its first year of operation in the city with some interesting stats.

“Montreal’s support of uberX has been incredible,” the company said in a blog post. Every month, Uber sees over 20,000 new app downloads in Montreal, and is now topping 300,000 requests a month, which translates to one request every nine seconds. Riders have travelled over 7 million kilometres using uberX in the last year.
