Chromecast Audio adds support for high resolution audio

Chromecast 2.0

Chromecast Audio has became just a bit more appealing to audiophiles.

With its latest firmware update, Chromecast audio is now capable of streaming lossless audio encoded at 96KHz 24bits. This means Chromecast owners can now enjoy higher than CD quality audio through a device that costs $45.

On the slightly less useful side, Google has also updated the device to allow it to work together with other Chromecast Audio units to stream the same song in several different rooms. To enable this feature, users will need to go into the Chromecast app and assign different units into a single group. Once that’s done, the user can tell the group to play a song like they would a single device.
