Frogmind’s Badland 2 rolls onto iOS devices

Badland 2

Frogmind, the independent developer of Apple’s 2013’s iPad Game of the Year, has finally released Badland 2, the successor to the original Badland.

Badland 2 continues to adopt the side-scrolling, action-adventure approach featured in its critically acclaimed predecessor, but throws new elements into the mix like liquids, flamethrowers, frost, magma water and searing light.

“Badland is our attempt to reinvent the first Badland,” said Juhana Myllys, co-founder and lead artist/designer of Frogmind, in a statement sent to MobileSyrup. “We wanted Badland 2 to be worthy of the word ‘sequel.’ It’s not the old Badland just with new content. It is a whole new world to explore.”

The game is also set to feature seasonal globally ranked asynchronous multiplayer events that operate similarly to the time trials commonly found in racing games.

The game also features support for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus’ 3D touch technology, allowing players to more precisely navigate their way through taps and puzzles.

There’s no word yet on if Badland 2 will also make its way to Android at some point, but given the original Badland eventually landed on Google’s operating system, Badland 2 likely will as well. We’ll have a full review of Badland 2 up on our site soon.

Badland 2 is priced at $5.99 in the iOS app store.

The original Badland made its way to almost every video game platform, including the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Wii U and Steam (it’s also one of the Apple TV’s best titles).
