Samsung Gear S2’s latest update promises better battery life

Gear S2

Despite wearing the distinction of being one of the few Tizen-powered smartwatches on the market, an operating system that lags behind both Android Wear and watchOS in the app department, we here at MobileSyrup liked out time with Samsung’s latest smartwatch, the Gear S2. It’s a simple and stylish timepiece that does a good job of pushing notifications and functioning as an activity tracker.

It’s also a device that’s able to eke out almost two full days of battery life out of a modest 250mAh power cell. Granted, it’s up to the user to adjust the brightness of their device and turn off things like the always visible watch face feature to get there, but it’s still an impressive feat given that, unlike something like the Pebble, the S2 uses an LCD screen.

Better yet, Samsung is attempting to make the Gear S2 last even longer on a single charge. Released today, the watch’s latest update, R730TUVU1AOL3, adds a bunch of battery usage optimizations. At a svelte 4.85 megabytess, even better battery is a short download away.
