RBC Mobile for iOS receives ‘fresh new design,’ adds ability to check account balances without signing in

One may rarely correlate banking with forward-thinking app design, but RBC, the country’s largest bank, has stepped into the arena with its latest iPhone update.

Now at version 5.0, the RBC Mobile app for iPhone and iPad has been completely overhauled with a clean, blue-and-white colour scheme. The bottom-facing tab features wireframe iconography that is easy to glean and navigate, mirroring many popular apps like Instagram and Twitter.

The update also brings a number of user-requested features to the table, including the ability to check account balances without signing into the app itself — all other content is hidden behind a password. Unfortunatley, it doesn’t yet look like the app supports Touch ID for logging in, which is something we like from the Tangerine and Scotiabank app.

For Apple Watch users, it seems that RBC has also fixed the location bug that was plaguing the previous version. Users can now easily locate the closest ATM from their wrists, as well. In addition, Watch owners can now receive alerts and check balances directly from their Watch.
