Google Chrome for iOS is now way faster and more stable

If you are part of the Google ecosystem, regardless of the computer you use, Chrome is a great option to keep all your browsing information in one place. On iOS, until very recently, using Google Chrome instead of Safari meant sacrificing speed in order to take advantage of Chrome’s cross-platform features.

Today, with version 48 of Chrome for iOS, things are about to get a whole lot faster, and more stable. The Chrome team has upgraded from UIWebView, which browsers other than Safari used to display webpages before iOS 8. Now, Google’s browser uses WKWebView, offering the same performance using WebKit as Safari is able to achieve.

In the new version, Chrome will also be more stable, and a crashing website will be a lot less likely to bring down the entire app. Javascript should be quicker, and the team says scrolling is now faster and livelier.

In short, even if you don’t care about the behind-the-scenes changes, the app will be a lot more stable and faster as a whole. The update is available now in the App Store.
