Early tech adopters rejoice: Amazon bans inferior USB Type-C cables

OnePlus USB Type C

It looks like Amazon has had enough of sellers chilling cheap, potentially device-ruining USB Type-C cables on its platform.

USB-C cables and adapters that are “not compliant with standard specifications issued by USB Implementers Forum,” will no longer be sold on Amazon.

This new policy, which is perfectly sensible given the recent controversy surrounding USB-C cables that don’t conform to standard specifications, will likely result in the removal of thousands of listings on Amazon. On the other hand, enthusiastic early tech adopters will be thrilled by this shift.

Faulty USB-C cables, though rare, can potentially destroy the device they are charging. Other non-compliant Amazon listings also include laser pointers, cell and gps jammer and jailbroken iPhones.
