Sportsnet Now allows Canadians to stream NHL, MLB and NBA games without cable [Update]

Update – April 1st: Sportnet Now is now available to all Canadians and can be downloaded through Google Play or the App Store. Rogers is offering a free 7-day trial then you’ll be charged $24.99 but is on a month-to-month model.

Starting tomorrow, Canadians will be able to watch NHL, MLB and NBA games without a cable subscription.

On Friday, Rogers is launching Sportsnet NOW, an Android and iOS app that grants users access to content from all six Sportnets channels — Sportsnet Ontario, East, Pacific, West, ONE and 360 — for $24.99 per month. Individuals who download the app can try it out for free for seven days by registering for a trial account.

“Rogers is Canada’s home for the best in sports, and Sportsnet NOW is a complementary service to our other offerings that gives Canadians even more choice when it comes to how they consume their sports content,” said Rick Brace, president of Rogers Media, in a statement sent to MobileSyrup. “We are committed to driving innovation in sport – and with this service, we’re bringing sports to our audiences in a new and exciting way.”

We’ll update this story once the app is live tomorrow morning. Rogers says the app will come to additional platforms in the future.

Sportsnet cable, IPTV and satellite subscribers can use the app without paying an extra fee.
