Toronto Raptor and MobileSyrup fan Cory Joseph is the new brand ambassador for LG Canada

Clearly someone at the LG has been listening to the SyrupCast, because on Monday the company announced that number six from the 6ix, Cory Joseph, will represent LG as its new “Chief Playmaker” and brand ambassador.

“It’s impossible to use the LG G5 without being impressed. It’s the smartest smartphone I’ve ever used and it’s really something I can get behind. The companion devices blew my mind and once you’ve experienced the back-up battery switch out – you’ll never go back. It’s a game changer,” says the Toronto Raptors point guard.

LG Canada will use Joseph’s skills and personal brand to promote the G5 in various ads, including on TV, radio, print and digital advertising. He will also participate in social media integrations and personal appearances.

The LG G5 is the company’s first ever modular smartphone. It features a range of companion devices, one of which adds a camera-like grip to the phone. The G5 also includes two rear-facing cameras, a DSLR-like manual mode and more. Plus the added ability to swap out a depleted battery for a fully charged one in seconds.

Speaking on its new relationship with Joseph, Eunice Lee, LG Canada brand manager, said, “Cory Joseph is a Canadian success story.”

The LG G5 will officially be available in Canada on April 8 via Bell, Telus and Rogers, as well Eastlink, MTS, SaskTel, Videotron and the recently acquired Wind Mobile

The phone features a 5.3-inch QHD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner (that doubles as the phone’s wake button), USB Type-C port, microSD card slot, two separate rear-facing cameras — a 16 megapixel 35mm equivalent and a 8-megapixel wide-angle camera lens — a 2,800mAh and 32GB of internal storage.
